Description
The Global Combat Support System - Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) is integral to the Marine Corps' Logistics Modernization strategy. It acts as the primary technology enabler, delivering essential logistics information to Marine Forces and the Supporting Establishment. Utilizing a commercial-off-the-shelf enterprise resource planning software, specifically the Oracle e-Business Suite, GCSS-MC replaces five legacy supply and maintenance information technology systems. This modernization effort supports approximately 25,000 users worldwide, enhancing operational capabilities for warfighters in both garrison and deployed environments.
The main goal of GCSS-MC is to improve logistics chain management through advanced technological solutions. Future enhancements aim to strengthen capabilities in warehousing, distribution, logistics planning, decision support, and depot maintenance. There is also a focus on integrating emerging technologies to enhance asset visibility and operational efficiency. These improvements are intended to provide comprehensive support for logistics operations across various Marine Corps units.
In fiscal year 2025, the program's objectives include sustaining Increment 1 of GCSS-MC while addressing the decreased need for technology refreshes of hardware and software at major logistics hubs. This reflects a strategic shift towards maintaining existing systems rather than extensive upgrades.
