Tomahawk

The Tomahawk procurement program aims to provide the Navy and Marine Corps with the necessary inventory of Tomahawk missiles to support the Long Range Fires (LRF) program. The specific goal is to procure Block V Tactical Tomahawk (TACTOM RGM/UGM-109E) missiles, which offer long-range precision-strike capability and increased responsiveness and flexibility. The program also focuses on in-flight retargeting, loitering over the battlefield, in-flight missile health monitoring, and improved anti-jam GPS functionality. The procurement quantities are planned to meet the Minimum Sustaining Rate (MSR) of 90 per year through the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP), ensuring a consistent supply for both the Navy and Marine Corps.

The objectives of Program 2101 include funding the procurement of 13 Block V TACTOMs in FY 2023 to support initial LRF fielding and an additional 34 new Block V TACTOMs in FY 2024 for fielding in FY 2026. This procurement is essential due to the 24-month lead time required for production. The program also aims to ensure that quantities totaling at least MSR are budgeted for procurement under separate budget lines for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Army. Additionally, it supports continued procurement of Block V TACTOM by depicting unit costs that assume combined procurement quantities across Navy, USMC, and Army meeting MSR. These objectives align with the broader goal of maintaining a sufficient inventory of Tomahawk missiles to support long-range precision-strike capabilities for both the Navy and Marine Corps.
