Signals, All Types

Signals All Types, under the Army's Procurement of Ammunition, aims to support critical war reserve/operational, training, and test requirements in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 3000.04 and Army Regulation 5-13. The program includes the procurement of various signals such as hand-held star clusters, parachute flares, aircraft countermeasures, and smoke pots. These items are essential for signaling, illumination, battlefield screening, and aircraft survivability. The procurement goals include building war reserve inventories and supporting individual and collective training of Active and Reserve Component forces at Army schools and home stations.

The specific objectives of the Signals, All Types program for FY 2024 include the procurement of various signals to meet war reserve/operational, training, and test requirements. This includes acquiring hand-held star clusters such as red, white, and green clusters for signaling and illuminating missions. Additionally, the program aims to procure parachute flares for nighttime battlefield illumination and aircraft countermeasures to protect against Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAM) systems. The procurement also includes smoke pots for screening purposes to conceal troop movements. These acquisitions are necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities in accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act.
