West Annandale Fire Station #23 - Temporary Facility

Background
Fairfax County is soliciting pre-bid qualifications for the construction of the Fairfax County West Annandale Fire Station #23 - Temporary Facility. The project consists of renovating an existing commercial building and adding an apparatus bay to function as a temporary fire station. The overall construction duration is planned to be approximately nine (9) months, with an estimated cost of $2.0 million (USD).

Work Details
The project involves renovating an existing 2,000 square foot commercial bank building, site work, utility modifications, and adding a 1,000 square foot steel frame supported membrane structure to serve as an apparatus bay while a new permanent fire station is being constructed on another site. The renovation work will be confined to the interior space and reconfiguration to support the fire station’s operations.

The temporary apparatus bay will house vehicles, gear lockers, laundry services, and an exercise area.

Period of Performance
The General Contract for this project is anticipated to be advertised for bid in Summer 2024 with bid opening in Fall 2024. Contract Award and start of construction are anticipated to occur in Fall 2024. The overall construction duration is planned to be approximately nine (9) months.
