Snow Removal at the Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center

Background
The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Department of Veterans Services, is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) for snow and ice removal services at the Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center (DMVCC).

The DMVCC is a long-term care facility with 204 beds located on approximately 17 acres in Roanoke City, Virginia. The goal of this contract is to ensure safe access to the facility for residents and visitors during winter weather conditions.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, and supplies necessary for snow removal from parking lots and sidewalks. Key requirements include:
1. Provision of at least two pieces of equipment and two operators.
2. Immediate snow removal when accumulation reaches 2 inches without prior approval.
3. Responsibility for repairing any damage caused during snow removal.
4. Manual shoveling of sidewalks upon request.
5. Use of a minimum ¾ ton truck equipped with a plow and chemical spreader, along with a backhoe or front-end loader.
6. Ice melt must be a three-component blend without rock salt.
7. Daily job tickets must be maintained to document work performed.

Period of Performance
The contract period is from November 1, 2024, through October 31, 2025, with four optional one-year renewals.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center located at 4550 Shenandoah Avenue, N.W., Roanoke, VA 24017.
