Security Services

Background
The City of Virginia Beach is seeking proposals for security services at various locations within the city. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and security of city facilities and personnel. The current contractor, Allied Universal, has been providing these services since December 2021. The city aims to improve service delivery and address challenges related to personnel continuity and service consistency.

Work Details
The contractor will provide security services at multiple sites including but not limited to: Virginia Aquarium, City Hall, Municipal Center Complex, VB Convention Center, Emergency Communication Calling Center, and various Human Services locations.

Specific requirements include:
- Unarmed and armed security officers based on site needs.
- Patrols conducted every hour during shifts.
- Coverage for various shifts including 24/7 operations at certain locations.
- Provision of uniforms and equipment such as radios (provided by the city), duty belts, firearms (9mm Glock 17), ballistic vests, handcuffs, and less-than-lethal options like OC spray.
- Officers must be CPR/AED certified and undergo specific training prior to deployment.
- All personnel must meet the city's background check requirements, with no criminal records disqualifying them from consideration.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence following the evaluation of proposals and selection of a vendor after September 12, 2024.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at various locations throughout the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
