RFQ 24-24817 Buchanan Library Renovations

Background
The Botetourt County Purchasing Office is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to solicit applications from qualified construction general contractors for the renovation of the Buchanan Public Library.

The goal of the project is to renovate approximately 11,995 square feet of space to enhance the layout and incorporate new children and teen areas, as well as new activity rooms. The library is located at 19795 Main Street, Buchanan, VA 24066.

Work Details
The renovation project involves work on all floors of the library to improve layout and functionality. Specific tasks include:
- Incorporating new children and teen areas.
- Adding new activity rooms.
- Updating finishes throughout the facility.
- Installing new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Structural steel and framing will be required at Level 2B and the roof to support floor loads for the new activity rooms.
- The basement will receive a new concrete slab and mechanical systems but will remain unoccupied.
- The front façade will be updated with new storefront windows, a new canopy, and fresh paint.

Period of Performance
The RFQ was released on January 9th, 2025, with a submission deadline set for February 10th, 2025.

The contract work will be performed at the Buchanan Public Library located at 19795 Main Street, Buchanan, VA 24066.
