New King & Queen Elementary School- Architectural and Engineering

Background
The King & Queen County Board of Supervisors is seeking proposals from professional Architectural/Engineering firms to provide a conceptual study and master plan for a new Elementary School (PreK-7) on a 90-acre campus. This initiative aims to replace two existing elementary schools and enhance the educational infrastructure in King & Queen County, Virginia. The selected firm will also have the option to provide full architectural and engineering services, including construction administration.

Work Details
The selected Architectural/Engineering firm will be responsible for:

1. Developing a conceptual study and master plan for the site, including schematic design and design development.
2. Creating construction documents and providing construction administration services.
3. Confirming the project program through interviews, documentation, planning, and layout development.
4. Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations, including the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.
5. Preparing specifications that reflect current requirements and standards.
6. Developing construction documents for an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan and a Stormwater Management Plan as required by DCR and DEQ.
7. Coordinating with local authorities regarding regulatory issues.
8. Preparing cost estimates at each design stage and assisting in bidding processes.

Period of Performance
The anticipated schedule includes posting the Request for Proposals on September 4, 2024, with proposals due by October 3, 2024. The selection process will occur in October/November 2024, followed by contract negotiations in November/December 2024.

Place of Performance
The contract work will be performed in King & Queen Court House, Virginia, specifically at a site adjacent to the existing Central High School property.
