IFB159232 Precast-prestressed concrete Slab

Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB #159232) to solicit qualified firms for the design and fabrication of precast-prestressed concrete voided/solid slab superstructures.
The project aims to enhance infrastructure by delivering these components to Route 613 (Spring Grove Road) over Buck Creek in Appomattox County, Virginia.

Work Details
The contract includes the design and fabrication of a precast-prestressed concrete voided/solid slab superstructure with BCR-2/BCRT-4 railing components.
Specific requirements include:
- Structure Data: 1 span, length of slabs 32'-2", design span length 30'-0", out-to-out width 22'-0", slab thickness 1'-3", skew 0 degrees.
- Superstructure must be designed for HL-93 loading per AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, including specific loading allowances for construction tolerances and future wearing surfaces.
- Materials must conform to the 2020 VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, including hydraulic cement, steel reinforcement, and waterproofing standards.
- Prestressed concrete slabs must be Class A5 with specified compressive strengths. All reinforcing steel must be corrosion-resistant.
- Additional requirements include waterproofing measures, provision of lifting apparatus for handling precast components, and on-site technical assistance if requested.
The bid price must cover all aspects from design to delivery.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award and extend through February 24, 2025. This contract is non-renewable.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Route 613 (Spring Grove Road) over Buck Creek in Appomattox County, Virginia.
