Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide design and fabrication of the precast-prestressed concrete voided/solid slab superstructure, with BTB-1 railing components delivered to Route 615 (Dudley Road) at Terrible Creek in Halifax County, Virginia. The period of the contract is from the date of award to October 30, 2024 (nonrenewable).

Work Details
The contract involves the design and fabrication of the precast-prestressed concrete voided/solid slab superstructure, with BTB-1 railing components delivered to Route 615 (Dudley Road) at Terrible Creek in Halifax County, Virginia.
The superstructure shall be designed for HL-93 loading in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, 8th Edition, 2017; and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Modifications. All design calculations shall be in accordance with said Load and Resistance Factor Design methodology and criteria.
The bridge structure shall also be designed with a 3” average asphalt-concrete overlay and the side mounted BTB-1 railing system.
