Background
Botetourt County is issuing a solicitation for sealed bids from pre-qualified General Contractors for the construction of the Botetourt County Circuit Courthouse. This project aims to replace the existing courthouse and includes various site improvements. The agency's mission is to enhance public facilities and services in the county, ensuring they meet modern standards while preserving historical significance.

Work Details
The project includes:

1. Demolition of the current courthouse, community building, and old public works building.

2. Relocation of existing utilities (power, fiber, gas, water, sewer) on Courthouse Square; grading and rock removal; installation of a concrete retaining wall for a new parking lot; and relocation of a historic law office/hotel building (LOH).

3. Preparation and relocation of the two-story LOH with a new masonry foundation.

4. Relocation of a historic monument and related artifacts.

5. Site work including landscaping (hardscaping), fencing, parking lighting, and other preparations for construction.

6. Construction of a new courthouse building on the demolished site with a total floor area of approximately 40,420 square feet, featuring two stories and a basement level designed to match the old courthouse's facade. The basement will include secured parking for judges and mechanical equipment; the first floor will house the Clerk's Office and Commonwealth Attorney's office; the second floor will contain courtrooms with public waiting areas.

Period of Performance
The contract completion is expected within thirty (30) days after substantial completion as stated in the Bid Form.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Botetourt County Circuit Courthouse located at 1 W. Main Street, Fincastle, VA 24090.
