IFB#159060 - Snow Removal Services

Background
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is soliciting bids for snow removal services in Roanoke County, specifically within the Salem Residency area. The goal is to establish contracts for the removal of snow, ice, and other frozen precipitation from designated routes, including all intersections and crossovers. This initiative aims to ensure safe travel during winter weather conditions.

Work Details
Contractors are required to provide trucks and various equipment with experienced operators for snow removal operations. Each truck must be equipped with owner-provided plows, saddle tanks (except for one-ton trucks), and chemical spreaders. A contractor-supplied shift supervisor with a vehicle must be provided for each awarded lot. The contract includes multiple lots, each specifying different routes that need to be serviced:

- **Lot 1**: Route 116 from Roanoke County/Roanoke City Line to Roanoke/Franklin County Line.
- **Lot 2**: Route 24 from Roanoke County/Vinton Town Line to Roanoke/Bedford County Line; Route 634 from Roanoke/Bedford County Line to Roanoke/Franklin County line; Route 654 from Route 24 to Route 634.
- **Lot 3**: Route 221 from Rt. 696 Apple Grove Lane to Roanoke/Franklin County Line.
- **Lot 4**: Route 311 at the intersection of Rte. 311 and 419 to Roanoke/Craig County Line.
- **Lot 5**: Route 11 from Roanoke City/Roanoke County Line to Roanoke/Botetourt County Line.
- **Lot 6**: Routes including Rte. 118 and Rte. 623.
- **Lot 7**: Route 115 from Roanoke City/County Line to Rte. 815 Angle Lane.
- **Lot 8**: Routes along Rte. 11/460 from Roanoke/Montgomery Co. Line to Salem City Limits.
- **Lot 9**: Route 220 from Roanoke/Franklin Co. Line to Rt. 419/Southern Hills Drive.
- **Lot 10**: Rte.1541 Hunting Hills Drive including adjoining routes.
- **Lot 11**: All routes in various locations within Roanoke County.

The contractor must ensure all equipment is operational, permitted, and insured before the contract begins, with specific minimum equipment requirements outlined for each lot.

Period of Performance
The contract period will last for one year starting from the date of award through April 30, 2025, with potential renewals.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed in specified routes within Roanoke County in the Salem District.
