Gwaltney Way Extension

Background
The Gwaltney Way Extension project is initiated by the Isle of Wight County, Virginia, under the Department of Budget and Finance. The project aims to enhance local infrastructure by extending Gwaltney Way to support adjacent development and improve transportation access. It is funded through the Virginia Economic Development Access Program, administered by VDOT.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Extending Gwaltney Way approximately 1000 linear feet to the west, terminating in a cul-de-sac.
- Constructing two new entrances to an adjacent development.
- Reconstructing an additional 1000 linear feet of existing Gwaltney Way to meet VDOT standards, including mill and overlay.
- Creating a two-lane section with a width of 28 feet from edge of pavement to edge of pavement, including graded shoulders and roadside ditches.
- Installing a pedestrian sidewalk approximately 900 feet long for connectivity from developing parcels to a future bus stop.
- Adding a bus pullout area with curb and gutter.
All construction must conform to the VDOT 2020 Road and Bridge Specifications unless otherwise noted.

Period of Performance
The contractor is expected to begin work within ten (10) days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. Final completion is required within one hundred eighty (180) calendar days from that notice.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.
