Fralin Hall Facade Repair

Background
The Fralin Hall Façade Repair project is initiated by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) located in Blacksburg, VA. The primary objective of this contract is to address the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of Fralin Hall by removing and replacing the exterior stair system on its west elevation. This project aligns with Virginia Tech's mission to maintain and enhance its facilities for educational purposes.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of the exterior stair system on the west elevation of Fralin Hall. The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary equipment, materials, labor, and services required for the complete installation of the new stair system. Specific tasks include:

- Removal of existing Hokie stone above the 4th floor.
- Installation of new flashings.
- Replacement of precast joint sealants.
- Application of water resistive coating.
- Mobilization, staging, equipment setup, protection measures, inspection, management, administration, and incidental work associated with these tasks.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed and is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe as determined by the Owner. Final completion is required within thirty (30) days after achieving substantial completion.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Fralin Hall, located at 360 W Campus Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24061.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be registered vendors in eVA (Virginia's electronic procurement system). They are required to submit a bid bond if their bid exceeds $500,000. Additionally, bidders must comply with Virginia's licensing requirements as a Class A or Class B Contractor depending on the total value of their construction work. Bidders are encouraged to include a Small Business Procurement Plan detailing participation by small businesses.
