The Fields Penn House, built circa 1860, is located at 208 West Main Street, Abingdon, and requires repointing on all three exterior walls. The Retirement House, located at 702 Colonial Rd, Abingdon, also needs repointing throughout its exterior walls. This project aims to preserve the historical integrity of these facilities.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Repointing brick on all three exterior walls of the Fields Penn House including the front entrance (Main St), side (Cummins St), and side (Municipal Parking Lot).
- For the Retirement House, repointing is required on all four exterior walls.
- Proposals must include labor, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the tasks as per specifications.
- Specific services include addressing mortar erosion exceeding ΒΌ inch, crumbling mortar, mortar with voids, hairline cracks in the mortar, and cracks between brick and mortar.
- Proper cutting out of mortar joints with minimal damage to adjacent bricks and accurate color matching to existing mortar joints are required.
- If oyster shells are used in the mix, they must be thoroughly washed and crushed to match the original size without exceeding a volume ratio of 2 parts oyster shells to 1 part mix.
- All samples of mortar must be approved by a Town Representative before proceeding with work.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon execution of the agreement following bid acceptance and is expected to be completed within a timeframe determined by the contractor's proposal.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at two locations in Abingdon, Virginia: Fields Penn House at 208 West Main Street and Retirement House at 702 Colonial Rd.
