Background
The Town of Drakes Branch has been awarded a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) for the Drakes Branch Acquisition Project. This project aims to acquire and demolish commercial structures, along with adjacent vacant parcels, to dedicate the land for open space use as part of ongoing flood control mitigation efforts.

The Town requires the services of an asbestos contractor to abate asbestos-containing building materials from six commercial structures.

Work Details
The principal work under this contract includes the abatement of asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM) from six commercial structures located at various addresses in Drakes Branch, VA. The contractor will be responsible for:
- Providing a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA regulations, including air monitoring and signage.
- Developing a design plan and conducting air monitoring to ensure no exposure to asbestos fibers during abatement.
- Obtaining all necessary federal, state, and local permits for building and disposal as required by law.
- Completing an asbestos remediation based on previous surveys conducted by Hurt & Proffitt in January 2024, which identified specific materials containing asbestos at each site.
- A 20-day notice is required prior to the removal of friable asbestos. The contractor must submit a lump sum bid that includes all activities necessary for the objectives outlined in the project manual.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to be completed within 90 calendar days from the start of construction, with regular work hours set from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at multiple locations in Drakes Branch, VA, specifically at 4800, 4818, 4830, 4881, and 4860 Drakes Main Street.
