Demolition of Riverheads Elementary School IFB#20240826

Background
The Augusta County School Board is seeking to establish a firm fixed price contract for the demolition of designated buildings at the old Riverheads Elementary School. The goal of this contract is to safely remove all structures, foundations, and underground utilities while ensuring that the main sewer line remains operational for other buildings on the site.

This project aligns with the agency's mission to maintain safe and functional educational environments.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Demolish all buildings as specified in Attachment C, totaling approximately 40,000 square feet.
2. Remove all foundations, sidewalks, and underground utilities within the designated area.
3. Dispose of all debris from the site, including lights and ballast.
4. Remove the grease trap located behind the kitchen area and fill in the hole with dirt and topsoil.
5. Ensure that the main sewer line remains operational for adjacent buildings while capping off sewer lines leading to demolished structures.
6. Maintain utilities and power supply to the gym and cafeteria/administration building during demolition.
7. Remove partial walkway coverings attached to buildings that are not being demolished.
8. Grade the area where buildings were located to a level surface suitable for seeding, which may require additional dirt brought in from Buffalo Gap High School or other sources.
9. Seed and straw all disturbed areas after grading.

Period of Performance
The abatement of the building is scheduled for completion by January 31, 2025, with demolition commencing on February 1, 2025, and expected to be completed by March 31, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Old Riverheads Elementary School located at 17 Howardsville Road, Staunton VA 24401.
