Accotink Gravity Sewer Improvements

Background
Fairfax County is soliciting pre-bid qualifications for the construction of the Accotink Gravity Sewer Improvements Project. This project aims to enhance the sewerage capacity in anticipation of future growth in the Northeast portion of Fairfax County.

The project is located in various street right-of-ways and easements in the Hunters Branch Stream area, extending from approximately Chaon Bridge Road to Arlington Boulevard. Only firms that have been pre-qualified will be eligible to submit bids for this project, which is scheduled for bid opening in May 2025.

Work Details
The project includes the construction of approximately 15,000 linear feet (LF) of additional interceptor sewer using both open cut and trenchless construction methods.

Various junction structures will be constructed to regulate flows between the existing interceptor and the newly constructed interceptor. Additionally, around 8,000 LF of cured-in-place lining will be applied to the existing interceptor. The anticipated construction duration is approximately 36 months, with an estimated cost between $40 million and $50 million.

Period of Performance
The General Contract for this project is expected to be advertised for bid in March 2025, with bid opening scheduled for May 2025.

The contract award date is projected for July 2025, followed by an anticipated construction start in August 2025.

The contract will be performed in various street right-of-ways and easements within the Hunters Branch Stream area in Fairfax County, Virginia.
