Background
The Texas Racing Commission (TXRC) is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for contracted Veterinarian Technicians (Class 961-86) within the State of Texas. The TXRC aims to award contracts to one or more qualified vendors, with individual blanket contracts not exceeding $75,000.00 per fiscal year. This initiative aligns with the agency's mission to ensure the integrity and safety of horse racing in Texas.

Work Details
Contractors will perform the services of a TXRC Veterinary Technician at racetracks assigned by the Chief Veterinarian. Duties include monitoring morning exercises for lameness, completing injury checklists, assisting with postmortem exams, providing information for Critical Injury Reports, performing imaging programs on horses, and other duties as assigned by the Chief Veterinarian.

The specific services to be provided include:
- Following written protocols for routine procedures.
- Monitoring horses during morning training if agreed upon.
- Assisting test barn activities as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Veterinarian.

The locations where services will be performed are determined by the Chief Veterinarian based on the needs of each meet and may require travel to various operational Texas racetracks.

Period of Performance
The contract term will commence upon acceptance and continue through August 31, 2025. It may be renewed for four additional one-year periods upon mutual agreement in writing prior to expiration.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various racetracks in Texas including Gillespie County Fair (GFC), Retama Race Park, Lone Star Park, and Sam Houston Race Park.
