Forestry Mulching & Land/Brush Clearing Services at State Parks and throughout the State of Texas

Background
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is seeking contractors to establish blanket contracts for forestry mulching and land/brush clearing services throughout the state of Texas.
The goal of this contract is to ensure the availability of qualified contractors to perform these services at various TPWD sites, including an initial project at Lake Tawakoni State Park.
The agency aims to maintain and enhance the natural resources within state parks, ensuring safety and accessibility for visitors.

Work Details
Contractors will provide forestry mulching and land/brush clearing services, specifically:
1. At Lake Tawakoni State Park, contractors must cut or mulch all understory trees and brush less than 9 inches in diameter at breast height within a 38.3-acre area.
2. Mulched debris must be no larger than 3 inches in diameter and should not be attached to stumps or tree boles.
3. All trees and brush less than 9 inches in diameter must be mulched unless marked as 'leave' trees by TPWD.
4. The contractor must use a forestry mulching machine capable of mulching trees and brush up to 12 inches at stump level and 9 inches DBH, including specific species such as oaks, yaupon, black gum, sweetgum, swamp privet, green ash, juniper, mesquite, honey locust, and elm.
5. Future projects will vary in scope; TPWD will submit specific requests for proposals based on identified needs.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and continue through August 31, 2026, with options for renewal for up to three additional one-year periods if mutually agreed upon by both parties.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed throughout the state of Texas at various TPWD sites, starting with Lake Tawakoni State Park.
