PW Bid 2443 - Freight Elevator Modernization at Queen Lane WTP

Background
The Philadelphia Water Department is issuing a solicitation for the Freight Elevator Modernization project at the Queen Lane Water Treatment Plant located at 3565 Fox Street. This project aims to enhance the operational efficiency and safety of the freight elevator system within the facility, which is critical for transporting materials and equipment.

The estimated budget for this project ranges from $1,000,000 to $2,000,000.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the following key components:

1) Modernization of elevator components including a new hoisting machine, VVVF drive, motion control system, and electrical upgrades.

2) Refurbishment of existing cables (hoist), guides (car/counterweight), entrance frames, and freight entrance tracks/locks.

3) Installation of new electrical traveling cables and emergency lighting.

4) Basement work involving a new trench drain and modernization of an existing sump pit and pump.

5) Replacement and alignment of existing elevator door thresholds at exterior basin level.

6) Replacement of the elevator room door and frame on the sixth floor with new hardware including lock set, hinges, and closer.

7) Removal of non-essential equipment in the elevator machine room along with installation of a new HVAC mini-split system.

8) Installation of a condenser for the new HVAC system on the roof.

All work must comply with applicable codes including the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act and ASME A17.1 standards.

Period of Performance
The contract period is expected to commence upon award and is anticipated to last approximately 12 months.

The work will be performed at the Queen Lane Water Treatment Plant located at 3565 Fox Street, Philadelphia, PA.
