RFEI X001483 Adaptive Reuse of Schoellkopf Hall

Background
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation is seeking expressions of interest to rehabilitate and activate Schoellkopf Hall at DeVeaux Woods State Park. The mission of State Parks is to provide safe recreational opportunities while being responsible stewards of natural, historic, and cultural resources.

The goal is to gather ideas that protect the historic value of Schoellkopf Hall while enhancing the park's resources.

Work Details
The RFEI invites a wide array of ideas for adaptive reuse, new services, programs, and activities that align with public/private partnerships. Proposals should focus on:
1) Long-term public programming benefits;
2) Adaptive reuse of the historic facility;
3) Best practices for sustainable capital improvements.

Strong proposals will include a financially sustainable business plan and demonstrate compatibility with the park's mission. The site encompasses approximately 36,000 square feet and includes plans for potential renovations such as new windows, doors, roofing, structural improvements, HVAC systems, and fire protection systems. A total estimated cost for restoration is approximately $8.7 million.

The RFEI was released on September 11, 2024, with responses due by November 13, 2024.
