Description

The City of Auburn, NY provides Court facilities and services at the Cayuga County owned and operated Historic Post Office Building located at 157 Genesee Street, Auburn NY 13021. The City is proposing a comprehensive improvement to the historic Post Office Building on the basement and 1st floor levels. Scope of Work will include, but is not limited to:

  • Renovation of selected portions of the 1st Floor including construction of a new trial courtroom, attorney's offices, and supporting meeting spaces and storage, City Court Clerk suite, Court security Office, Judge Chambers and Secure holding areas;
  • Restoration of the existing historic wood and steel exterior windows;
  • Limited Abatement;
  • Rehabilitation of existing wood wainscoting and installation of new wainscoting and woodwork throughout;
  • Removal and infill of old freight elevator, no new elevator work is proposed;
  • Installation and upgrade of HVAC systems for 1st floor;
  • Renovation of 1st Floor public restrooms and install of new staff restrooms.

This project is jointly funded between the City of Auburn and Cayuga County. There are no New York State grant funds assisting this project. The NYS Office of Court Administration is assisting with project oversight and approvals.
