Planning and Implementation of 2024-2025 Gene Franchini Mock Trial Programs for High Schools and Middle Schools

Background
The Center for Civic Values (CCV) received New Mexico State Appropriations under FY25 HB2 to plan and implement the 2024-2025 Gene Franchini High School and Middle School Mock Trial Programs, aligning with the Legislature's intent.

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CCV to provide fiscal agent services for this appropriation, supporting educational initiatives in law for students.

Work Details
CCV will coordinate and implement the Gene Franchini High School and Middle School Mock Trial Programs, which include:

A. Developing students' skills in listening, public speaking, reading, and critical thinking;
B. Increasing understanding of the judicial system;
C. Preparing a mock trial problem for statewide competition;
D. Coordinating registration of school teams, volunteers, and judges;
E. Training volunteer judges and attorneys;
F. Assisting the state champion team in preparation for national competition;
G. Collaborating with UNM Law School to enhance educational experiences;
H. Ensuring participant safety and compliance with UNM policies.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed in New Mexico, specifically involving high schools and middle schools across the state.
