Landfill Phase IV Stage 1 Expansion

Background
The City of Nashua, Division of Public Works, is seeking sealed bids for the construction of the Phase IV, Stage I Expansion at the Four Hills Landfill located at 840 West Hollis Street, Nashua, New Hampshire.
This expansion is designed to overlap portions of a closed, unlined municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill and the active, double-lined Phase I-II-III landfill.
The goal of this project is to enhance the landfill's capacity while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Work Details
The scheduled work includes:
- Site preparation and earthwork
- Landfill liner base grade preparation
- Installation of an overlay leak detection liner over the closed, unlined landfill
- Installation of a double high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic liner system fused with existing Phase I-II-III landfill liners
- Installation of new leachate collection piping and modification of existing leachate collection piping
- Modification and decommissioning of landfill gas wells and vacuum lines
- Decommissioning groundwater monitoring wells
- Installation and construction of stormwater control infrastructure.

Period of Performance
The project is expected to begin upon issuance of a written 'Notice to Proceed,' estimated for October 2024.
The completion timeline includes 320 consecutive calendar days for substantial completion and 340 consecutive calendar days for final completion.
Major earthwork activities may not commence until March 2025, depending on winter conditions.

The contract will be performed at the Four Hills Landfill, 840 West Hollis Street, Nashua, New Hampshire.
