RFQ for Carteret County Jail, Sheriff's Office and Public Safety Complex

Background
The County of Carteret, North Carolina, is seeking qualified architectural firms to provide professional architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of the Carteret County Jail, Sheriff's Office, and Public Safety Complex.

This initiative aims to develop a municipal complex plan that supports county government operations by providing safe and effective work environments that meet the operational needs of various county departments.

Work Details
The selected firm will be responsible for a comprehensive range of services including: planning, schematic design, design development, preparation of construction documents, bidding assistance, and construction administration.

The jail design must accommodate 350-400 beds. The firm will collaborate with an owner design committee consisting of the County Manager, Deputy County Manager, Sheriff, Maintenance Director, and Purchasing Agent. Responsibilities include preparing budget estimates for all project phases (site preparation, technology costs, professional fees), providing a timeline for implementation and completion, and presenting the master plan to the County Commissioners for review and potential adoption.

The firm is also expected to ensure quality management practices throughout all project phases.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award and is expected to continue until project completion. The deadline for submission of qualifications is set for 4:00 PM (EST) on March 31, 2025.

Place of Performance
The project will be performed in Beaufort, North Carolina at the designated site for the Carteret County Jail, Sheriff's Office, and Public Safety Complex.
