Request for Letters of Interest - BO-2422, SR 1011 (S Salem Street) Bicycle Lanes

Background
The Town of Apex, located in Wake County, NC, is seeking proposals from qualified firms for professional transportation planning and engineering services. The goal of this contract is to design shared lane markings and bicycle lanes along SR 1011 (S Salem Street) between SR 1307 (Chatham Street) and SR 1170 (Pleasant Plains Road).

Additionally, a sidewalk will be designed along one side of the S Salem Street bridge over NC 540. This project is part of the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) identified as BO-2422 and is partially funded by Federal-aid through the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Work Details
The selected firm will provide the following services:
- Design shared lane markings between Chatham Street and Apex Peakway.
- Design bicycle lanes between Apex Peakway and Pleasant Plains Road.
- Design a sidewalk along one side of the S Salem Street bridge over NC 540.
- Ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) during planning and environmental studies.

The contract requires adherence to various Discipline Codes including but not limited to: Bridges, Erosion Control, Pavement Markings Plans, Public Involvement, Signal Design, Traffic Management Plans, Urban Roadway Design, Utility Coordination, Wetland and Stream Delineation, Topographic Surveying, and Boundary Surveying.

Period of Performance
The proposed contract time is 24 months for the final design and right-of-way phases.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in Apex, North Carolina along SR 1011 (S Salem Street) between SR 1307 (Chatham Street) and SR 1170 (Pleasant Plains Road).
