Proposal for Comprehensive K-12 Science Curriculum Development and Instructional Tools

Background
Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) is seeking a 5-year contract for the development of a comprehensive Science Curriculum and instructional tools for grades K-5, 6-8, and high school courses including Earth and Environmental Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
The goal is to support science teaching and learning aligned with the 2023 North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Science.
JCPS serves over 37,000 students across various educational institutions in the district.

Work Details
The contractor will provide curriculum materials that must meet the following criteria:
- Align with the 2023 North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Science.
- Be coherent in design for grades K-8.
- Ensure scientific accuracy.
- Leverage science phenomena and/or engineering problems to enhance learning and student performance.
- Require hands-on student interaction with scientific concepts.
- Support teachers in implementing materials effectively and understanding their students' skills and learning needs.
- Utilize an inquiry-based lesson structure.
- Identify instructional models/approaches and research-based strategies utilized.
The curriculum should include resources that engage students, support teachers, and align with the district's strategic goals for increased student achievement.

Period of Performance
The contract will be executed over a period of five years, from the award date until June 30, 2030.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed within Johnston County Public Schools located in Smithfield, North Carolina.
