Fire Alarm System Replacement for Museum of the Albemarle

Background
The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is issuing a solicitation for the replacement of the fire alarm system at the Museum of the Albemarle. This project aims to enhance safety and compliance with current fire alarm standards within the museum, ensuring that it meets necessary regulations and provides adequate protection for visitors and exhibits.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the complete removal of the existing fire alarm system and installation of a new, fully redundant fire alarm system. Key tasks include:

- Removal and disposal of old fire alarm devices, including plates to cover old device locations which must be painted to match surrounding wall colors.
- Installation of new devices including duct detectors in units with design airflows greater than 2,000 cfm.
- Installation of new pull stations, horn strobes, and remote annunciators in specified locations, ensuring ADA compliance.
- Procurement and installation of conduit (minimum size 3/4") for all exposed wiring.
- Coordination with the owner's elevator service company for necessary permits and testing as required by NCDOL.

The contractor must ensure that all work is completed within 240 consecutive days from the start date.
