Custodial Operations and Maintenance of I-40 Rest Areas at Mile Marker 324, Johnston County

Background
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a janitorial maintenance company to provide custodial operations and maintenance for rest areas located on I-40 at Mile Marker 324 in Johnston County.

The goal of this contract is to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a safe, attractive, clean, sanitary, and operable manner at all times, reflecting positively on the Department and the State of North Carolina.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for custodial operations and maintenance of rest area service buildings (inside and out), utility/storage buildings, vending machine buildings, outside lighting (excluding maintenance of 15’ and 30’ pole lights), picnic facilities, and the water distribution and sewer systems.

The contractor must provide labor, supervision, equipment, and supplies necessary for these services. The estimated yearly visitation for the rest areas is approximately 764,631 people.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on July 1, 2025, and will be completed by June 30, 2026.

There is an option for two additional one-year extensions based on mutual agreement.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the I-40 Rest Areas located at Mile Marker 324 near Benson in Johnston County, North Carolina.
