Butner Food Distribution Warehouse Expansion Project

Background
The Butner Food Distribution Warehouse Expansion Project is initiated by the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, which aims to enhance its food distribution capabilities. The project involves the construction of an addition to the existing warehouse facility located at 1015 Food Distribution Drive, Creedmoor, NC. This expansion is crucial for improving the efficiency and capacity of food distribution services in North Carolina.

Work Details
The project includes a 28,879 square foot warehouse addition to the existing 85,466 square foot facility. Key components of the addition are:

- 2,297 SF Refrigerated Dock Service with three overhead doors
- 24,103 SF concrete paved Truck Court addition
- 20,384 SF Dry Storage
- Two Cooler/Freezers measuring 3,585 SF and 3,593 SF respectively
- 246 SF Office space
- 64 SF Men’s and Women’s Toilets
- 27 SF Sprinkler Room
- 23 SF Water Heater Closet
- 556 SF Equipment Platform
- Two Rooftop Equipment Platforms each measuring 600 SF.

The construction will utilize cast-in-place reinforced concrete slabs and footings, concrete block walls with utility brick veneer matching the existing building, structural steel framing, and a TPO roofing system. Cold storage areas will be equipped with roof-mounted condensers and evaporators. Additional work includes installation of electrical systems, fire alarms, plumbing, mechanical systems, site clearing, earth moving, concrete paving, retaining walls, fencing, and landscaping.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence upon award and must be completed within a specified timeframe following bid acceptance on January 9, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract work will be performed at the Butner Food Distribution Warehouse located at 1015 Food Distribution Drive (formerly known as 2582 West Lyon Station Road), Creedmoor, NC.
