Air Conditioning Installation Services at Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institution

Background
The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections is issuing a contract for the installation of air conditioning systems at the Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institution. The goal of this contract is to enhance the facility's climate control by replacing outdated systems and improving overall comfort for inmates and staff.

Work Details
The work includes:
1. Replacing existing air-cooled packaged chillers.
2. Modifying the Dorm heating-only Air Handling Units (AHUs) to add a modular cooling coil section.
3. Replacing the chilled water piping running to the Dorms with larger piping using PP-RCT grade materials.

The project will be bid as a single prime contract with all proposals submitted as lump sum bids.

The contract work is expected to be performed from the date of award until completion, with bids due by April 30, 2025.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with North Carolina General Statute GS 133-3 regarding preferred brands, specifically Trane and Carrier chillers as preferred brand alternates. Contractors must have proper licensing as required under state laws and must meet HUB participation requirements for contracts valued at $5000 or greater, including submission of Affidavits A, B, C, and D related to minority business participation.
