Vacancy Announcement for Court-Appointed Attorney in CHIPS and TPR

Background
The Washington County District Court in the Tenth Judicial District of the State of Minnesota is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a court-appointed attorney position. This role is crucial for providing legal representation to parents involved in child protection (CHIPS) and permanency (TPR) cases, in accordance with Minnesota Statute § 260C.

Work Details
The court-appointed attorney will provide legal representation for parents in child protection and permanency cases. Responsibilities include:

(1) Analyzing complex legal issues;
(2) Interfacing with judges, other attorneys, Guardians ad litem, tribal representatives, and other parties;
(3) Conducting legal research;
(4) Preparing legal memoranda and proposed orders;
(5) Effectively multitasking case-related priorities while communicating with diverse populations.

The attorney will manage a caseload that is approximately twenty-five percent (25%) of child protection and permanency cases, with around 130 cases filed in 2024.

Period of Performance
The contract is for the calendar year 2025, with a monthly compensation of $7,500.

Place of Performance
The position will be performed in Washington County, Minnesota.
