The Washington County District Court in the Tenth Judicial District of the State of Minnesota is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a court-appointed attorney position. This role is crucial for providing legal representation to parents involved in child protection (CHIPS) and permanency (TPR) cases, in accordance with Minnesota Statute ยง 260C.

Work Details
The court-appointed attorney will provide legal representation for parents in child protection and permanency cases. Responsibilities include:

(1) Analyzing complex legal issues;
(2) Interfacing with judges, other attorneys, Guardians ad litem, tribal representatives, and other parties;
(3) Conducting legal research;
(4) Preparing legal memoranda and proposed orders;
(5) Effectively multitasking case-related priorities while communicating with diverse populations.

The attorney will manage a caseload that is approximately twenty-five percent (25%) of child protection and permanency cases, with around 130 cases filed in 2024.

Period of Performance
The contract is for the calendar year 2025, with a monthly compensation of $7,500.

Place of Performance
The position will be performed in Washington County, Minnesota.
