RFP - NCR - Interpreting and Translation Services

Background
The City of Minneapolis is seeking to engage a qualified Consulting Firm to provide Interpreting and Translation Services. This initiative is part of the Department of Neighborhood and Community Relations' efforts to enhance communication with diverse communities, ensuring that programs, services, and activities are accessible to all residents.

The goal is to support effective engagement with non-English-speaking populations by delivering clear and culturally appropriate language services.

Work Details
The selected Consultant will be responsible for providing professional interpreting and translation services in multiple languages, including but not limited to American Sign Language, Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Lao, Oromo, Vietnamese, and Amharic. Services must include:
- Accurate interpretation and translation that maintains consistency of content.
- Availability of interpreters for both individual and group settings.
- Culturally competent communication that avoids literal translations.
- Provision of LGBTQ+ competency training for staff during the contract period.
- Specific requirements for law enforcement interactions including immediate availability for interpreting services and familiarity with law enforcement terminology.

Performance measures include timely delivery of services, maintaining cultural relevance in translations, and ensuring interpreters can handle sensitive information professionally.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on July 1, 2025, and will run until June 30, 2028.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed within the City of Minneapolis.
