Itasca State Park North Entrance Redevelopment

Background
The Department of Natural Resources Division of Operations Services in Minnesota is seeking Phase 1 Landscape Architecture and Engineering services for the redevelopment of the north entrance at Itasca State Park. The goal is to prepare construction plans and specifications that enhance the visitor experience at this significant entry point, which welcomes approximately 200,000 visitors annually.

The redevelopment aims to align with the park's historic grandeur and improve functionality for various users.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive design services including:
- Development of a preliminary design concept that realigns North Entrance Drive, retaining a designated service area with ADA-accessible parking, an information kiosk, and two ADA-accessible vault toilets.
- Design traffic signage for travel routes and address winter vehicle safety issues.
- Evaluate site conditions and existing planning documentation.
- Conduct site/civil design for roadway modifications and trail connections.
- Landscape design that meets DNR standards, including hardscaping and planting plans.
- Engineering design for utilities, stormwater management, and compliance with wetland ordinances.
- Incorporate sustainable design strategies aligned with B3 guidelines.

Deliverables include project kickoff meetings, site assessments, 50% and 95% design documents, final construction documents, and cost estimates at various stages.

Period of Performance
The anticipated contract term is from November 2024 to November 2026, with options to extend up to three additional years.
