Mobile Anesthesia Service Provider

Background
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Caro Psychiatric Hospital (CPH), 2040 Chambers Rd, Caro, MI, operates a dental clinic where patients receive routine dental care onsite. Due to the behavioral issues and non-compliance of certain patients, treatment teams at the hospital recommend intravenous sedation of these patients to complete the dental procedures.

Work Details
The Contractor must perform intravenous sedation to patients for dental services at the direction of MDHHS. At the time this contract is being bid out, only CPH is requesting mobile anesthesia services, but the scope could expand to all four hospitals in the future if mutually agreed upon. It is anticipated that two to three patients will be served per visit twice per month.

The Contractor must provide a licensed anesthesia provider to perform intravenous sedation per accepted American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) practice guideline protocols which include a preoperative assessment and assignment of ASA risk, administration of sedation medication as indicated, use of ASA monitoring equipment during procedure and post-anesthesia recovery period and submission of completed anesthesia record for the patient’s chart. The Vendor will supply the intraoperative anesthesia record in an ASA approved format. All sedation medication and necessary ASA monitoring equipment will be on site, purchased and maintained by MDHHS.

All staffing must comply with any standards or conditions of participation as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission. Staff must abide by all policies, procedures, accrediting bodies, and regulatory guidelines affecting the hospitals.
