MO9975176 - MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) from Northampton Drive to Powder Mill Road Pedestrian Safety Action Plan Improvement

This project, located in Montgomery County, is for the construction of sidewalk and intersection improvements to improve pedestrian safety along MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue). The project begins at the Northampton Drive intersection and extends north to the Powder Mill Road intersection for a total distance of 1.12 miles.The work will consist of the following:(a) Realigning four ramps at the I-495 interchange, including new full depth pavement, roadside ditches, and closed storm-drain systems(b) Constructing new asphalt shared use path near the I-495 interchange(c) Curbline changes at the Northampton Drive and Adelphi Road(d) Sidewalk Widening(e) Upgrading pedestrian ramps, median refuges, driveway entrances, and bus stops to meet ADA(f) Installing pedestrian median fencing to discourage mid-block crossings(g) Installing handrails behind sidewalks and bus stops where there is an existing drop off(h) Cleaning and repairing existing inlets and storm drains(i) Installing a bioretention facility near the I-495 interchange(j) Installing new overhead sign structures along northbound MD 650(k) Upgrading existing traffic signals, including signal phasing changes and APS/CPS(l) Installing corridor-wide lighting(m) Installing new pavement markings and ground-mounted signs(n) Fine milling and resurfacing where there are proposed pavement marking changes(o) Installing compliant traffic barriers and end treatments where existing barriers are impacted by proposed sidewalk or sign improvementsONLINE ELECTRONIC BIDS for the project(s) listed below will be received by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) at https://www.bidx.com/maryland/main until 12 Noon Eastern time on the date specified below for the Bid Opening, at which time they will be opened.
