Washington Landing Maritime Support Facility Project

Background
The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) is soliciting proposals from qualified Engineering/Design firms with demonstrable experience in providing waterfront engineering, design, and permitting services for the development of the Washington Landing Maritime Support Facility. This facility has served as Amesbury's only public boat ramp since at least 1965. It aims to enhance maritime support services to citizens, thereby expanding job and tax bases related to recreational boating on the Merrimack River.

Work Details
The project includes four main capital improvements:

1) Replacement of the existing degrading asphalt boat ramp with a specialized concrete ramp;

2) Addition of a landside raised boardwalk area to support harbormaster operations and pedestrian access;

3) Installation of a gangway, floating dock, and finger piers for transient vessels;

4) Improvements to the parking area, including stormwater control treatment and restoration of the living shoreline adjacent to the boat ramp.

The designer will provide comprehensive plans and specifications including site investigation, schematic design, construction documents, bidding assistance, and compliance with all applicable codes.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on June 1, 2025, and end on December 31, 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Washington Landing Maritime Support Facility located at 18 Merrimac St., Amesbury, MA.
