Background
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is initiating a Design-Build Project for the replacement of two bridges over the Merrimack River and the Bradford Rail Trail in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The project aims to enhance transportation infrastructure while ensuring minimal environmental impact and improving pedestrian and bicycle accommodations.

The estimated project value is $157,990,000.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Design and construction of a new Basiliere Bridge carrying Bridge Street (Route 125) over the Merrimack River and Bradford Rail Trail.
2. Complete removal of existing bridge structures.
3. Roadway reconstruction and widening of State Route 125 to accommodate the new bridge structure.
4. Sidewalk reconstruction, raised separated bike lane construction, pavement milling and overlay along State Route 125, landscape improvements, new walking paths, and resurfacing of a segment of the Bradford Rail Trail.
5. Installation of highway drainage/storm water management facilities, traffic management systems, highway and under bridge lighting, traffic signal alterations, pavement markings, signage, utility relocation/protection, and all related bridge and highway work.
6. Compliance with environmental permits and coordination with utilities.

Period of Performance
All construction must be completed within 2333 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The project will take place along State Route 125 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, specifically from approximately 150 feet south of Middlesex Street to approximately 150 feet north of Water Street/Merrimack Street.
