Farrier Services for Draft Horses

Background
The Commonwealth of Kentucky, through the Finance and Administration Cabinet, is issuing this solicitation for Farrier Services for Draft Horses at the Kentucky Horse Park (KHP).

The KHP is a 1,200-acre equine tourist attraction that hosts over 200 events annually and attracts approximately 500,000 visitors. The goal of this contract is to secure a Master Agreement for farrier services to maintain the health and performance of the draft horses used in horse-drawn tours.

Work Details
The selected vendor will provide comprehensive farrier services which include:
- Trimming the KHP herd of horses every 4-6 weeks based on hoof growth;
- Shoeing all horses that require shoes, including corrective, therapeutic, and supportive shoeing;
- Specifically trimming and shoeing draft horses for the horse-drawn trolley using Box Toe/Die 4 types of shoes.

The vendor must furnish all necessary tools, equipment, forges, gasses, shoes, transportation, and labor. Additional requirements include:
- Replacing any lost shoe within 48 hours if it occurs within ten days of original shoeing;
- Accommodating veterinary recommendations;
- Maintaining a regular schedule of 1-2 full days per week during KHP's business hours (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), including weekends;
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The vendor must also adhere to KHP regulations regarding personal conduct and behavior while on site.

Period of Performance
The initial contract period will be for one year from the date of award, with an option to extend for four additional one-year periods upon mutual agreement.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the Kentucky Horse Park located at 4089 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511.
