Mason Nursery Tree Seed

Background
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forest Resources, Mason State Nursery, is seeking quotes for the provision of native Illinois tree seed. The goal of this contract is to supply various species of tree seeds for planting in the fall of 2024, supporting the agency's mission to promote sustainable forestry and conservation efforts in Illinois.

Work Details
The contractor will provide the following native Illinois tree seeds in specified quantities:

- 3000# Quercus rubra (Red Oak)
- 3000# Quercus alba (White Oak)
- 5000# Quercus macrocarpa (Bur Oak)
- 1000# Quercus palustris (Pin Oak)
- 5000# Quercus bicolor (Swamp White Oak)
- 600# Quercus velutina (Black Oak)
- 600# Quercus shumardii (Shumard Oak)
- 1000# Quercus lyrata (Overcup Oak)
- 600# Quercus michauxii (Swamp Chestnut Oak)
- 200# Quercus nuttallii (Nuttall Oak)
- 7000# Juglans nigra (Black Walnut)
- 1000# Carya illinoinensis (Pecan)
- 1000# Carya lacinosa (Shellbark Hickory)
- 1000# Carya ovata (Shagbark Hickory)
- 1000# Taxodium distichum (Bald Cypress).

All seeds must be clean, labeled per species, bagged in onion sacks not exceeding 50 pounds per bag, viable and from an Illinois ecotype seed source. Specific quality requirements include husking or hulling walnuts and hickories, floating and sorting oak species, and passing a cut test. Final delivery dates are as follows:

- November 1st, 2024 for oaks and walnuts
- December 18th, 2024 for hickories and pecans
- March 31st, 2025 for Bald Cypress.
