Clinical Pharmacy Services

Background
The Hawaii State Hospital (HSH) provides adult inpatient psychiatric services and is part of the Department of Health (DOH), Adult Mental Health Division (AMHD). The majority of the patients are committed by the judicial system. HSH is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC). HSH is requesting proposals from qualified applicants to provide clinical pharmacy services for its patients.

Work Details
The provider shall provide clinical pharmacy services to the patients at the Hawaii State Hospital. This includes reviewing the drug dispensing system, making recommendations for upgrading patient care, providing comprehensive quality assurance programs, participating in pharmacy-related committees, and ensuring compliance with all State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Additionally, the provider shall provide and maintain a sufficient drug inventory, utilize pharmacy computerization and computer services, and have a daily delivery schedule capable of providing pharmaceutical products within a reasonable time frame.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over an initial term from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. There are provisions for five possible extensions of 12 months each, allowing for a maximum contract length of six years.

Place of Performance
The clinical pharmacy services will be provided to the patients at the Hawaii State Hospital (HSH) and adults who are admitted to State Operated Specialized Residential Program (SOSRP) located on the HSH campus.
Additionally, the provider shall provide discharge medications for all AMHD patients.
