Thomaston-Upson County School District Paving, Sealcoating, & Milling Project

Background
The Thomaston-Upson County School District is seeking bids for a series of paving projects aimed at improving parking facilities across multiple locations within the district.

These projects are part of the district's ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and provide safe, accessible areas for students and visitors. The work will take place at various sites including Matthews Field, Upson-Lee High School, Upson-Lee Agriculture Center, Upson-Lee Softball & Tennis Complex, and Upson-Lee Elementary School in Thomaston, Georgia.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the following tasks:
1. **Matthews Field Parking Lot (100 Holston Drive)**: Clean the lot, apply 2 coats of commercial coal tar sealer (30,878 square yards), re-stripe parking spaces, and install up to 50,000 linear feet of hot seal crack fill material. Alternate #1 includes milling existing asphalt by 2 inches, applying tack coat, re-paving with 2 inches of compacted state mix asphalt, and re-striping.

2. **Matthews Field V.I.P. Lot**: Strip grass, grade area for millings (4,364 square yards), add 3 inches of millings from high school parking lot, and layout/stripe for approximately 100 parking spaces.

3. **Upson-Lee Softball & Tennis Complex**: Strip grass and grade area for new drive entrance/exit and parking lot (4,596 square yards), add 3 inches of millings from high school parking lot, layout/stripe for approximately 130 parking spaces.

4. **Upson-Lee High School Student Parking Lot**: Mill existing asphalt by 2 inches (16,641 square yards), apply tack coat and re-pave with 2 inches of compacted state mix asphalt; re-stripe all spaces including handicap symbols (20 spaces) and install wheel stops at Fine Arts Center Building.

5. **Old Upson-Lee Tennis Courts**: Mill existing tennis courts asphalt and GAB (4,387 square yards); chain link fencing removal will be handled by others.

6. **Upson-Lee Agriculture Center**: Clean the parking lot with power blowers and push brooms; apply 2 coats of commercial coal tar sealer; re-stripe all parking spaces.

7. **Upson-Lee Elementary School**: Saw cut/remove curb and gutter (40 linear feet), strip grass/grade area for new drives/parking lot (3,200 square yards), add 3 inches of millings from high school parking lot; layout/stripe for 9 lanes for car staging with stencils for lane identification.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence after the bid opening on April 3, 2025.

Place of Performance
The projects will be performed at various locations in Thomaston, Georgia including Matthews Field Parking Lot, Upson-Lee High School Student Parking Lot, Upson-Lee Agriculture Center, Upson-Lee Softball & Tennis Complex, Old Upson-Lee Tennis Courts, and Upson-Lee Elementary School.
