BL057-25, Gwinnett County Aquatic Center Pool Renovations

Background
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners is soliciting competitive sealed bids from qualified contractors for the renovation of the Gwinnett County Aquatic Center Pool. This project is specifically for the Gwinnett County Department of Parks and Recreation. The goal of this contract is to enhance the facilities by replacing existing water lines and tiles, as well as preparing pool shells for new plaster finishes.

Work Details
The successful contractor shall provide all labor and materials necessary to replace existing water lines and surrounding tiles, and prepare pool shells for plastering at Bethesda Park Aquatic Center. This includes one instructional pool, one competition pool, and one outdoor leisure pool located at 225 Bethesda Church Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30044. Additionally, work at Best Friend Park Pool (6224 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Norcross, GA 30071) will involve replacing the existing PVC membrane with LifeFloor or an approved alternate.

Specific tasks include:
- Draining pools
- Removing jets and skimmer lids
- Preparing surfaces for plastering by sawing and chipping around fittings
- Removing existing sealants and tiles as needed
- Installing new tiles at water lines
- Applying new sealant in expansion joints
- Replacing VGB covers and Hydrostatic Relief Valves
- Applying a conventional white marble plaster finish to the pools
- Balancing pool chemistry after filling with water
- Ensuring all work complies with EPA regulations.

Period of Performance
Work at Bethesda Park Aquatic Center is scheduled to begin by September 2, 2025, and must be completed no later than September 28, 2025. Work at Best Friend Park Pool is set to start on October 25, 2025.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must submit a bid bond or certified check amounting to five percent (5%) of the total bid. Successful contractors are required to provide a one hundred percent (100%) performance bond and a one hundred percent (100%) payment bond. All insurance must comply with Georgia state regulations.
