Separate, sealed bids for Plowing Services will be received by the Department of Public Purchases, 999 Broad Street, 2nd Floor, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06604, until 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024 , and then, at said office, be publicly opened. The intent of this Invitation for Bid is to obtain contractor rate information and create a pre-approved list of local contractors to be on-call to supplement Bridgeport's Department of Public Facilities' efforts to respond to ice and snow conditions on City Streets as needed for the current 2024-2025 winter season. The City may also request same services for City-owned parking lots and/or schools. This bid seeks fleet and labor information for plowing and/or sanding City roadways and City-owned parking lots. To meet its goals the City is interested in entering into agreements for various sized vehicles with operators. See attached Scope of Service Sheet.
Background
The City of Bridgeport, through its Department of Public Purchases, is seeking bids for snow plowing services to support the Department of Public Facilities during the 2024-2025 winter season.
The goal is to establish a pre-approved list of local contractors who can provide timely and effective snow removal services on city streets, parking lots, and schools as needed.
Work Details
Contractors will be required to provide plowing and/or sanding services for City roadways and City-owned parking lots.
The City is interested in agreements for various sized vehicles with operators. Specific requirements include:
- Plowing services will be ordered on an as-needed basis.
- Contractors must provide vehicles equipped with 7ft -12ft plows; smaller pickups must have 4-wheel drive.
- Loaders and backhoes with plows will be prioritized over those without.
- Contractors are responsible for their own fuel and equipment maintenance.
- Performance records will be maintained regarding response times and service quality, with unsatisfactory records potentially leading to removal from the active call list.
Period of Performance
The contract will be active during the 2024-2025 winter season, with services being ordered as needed throughout this period.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed within the geographic boundaries of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
