PKAA, New Castle Sinkhole Project

Background
The New Castle Sinkhole Project is initiated by the State of Colorado's Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The project aims to address a significant environmental concern related to a large sinkhole located in Garfield County, adjacent to County Road 335 within the Town Limits of New Castle, Colorado. The goal is to safely backfill the sinkhole and restore the area, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding mining reclamation.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Mobilization & Demobilization;
2. SHEAP (Site Hazard Evaluation and Assessment Plan);
3. Permitting & Traffic Control for a duration of 28 days;
4. Provide & Install Coarse Fill (750 cubic yards);
5. Provide & Install Concrete (300 cubic yards);
6. Provide & Install CLSM (Controlled Low Strength Material, 1,250 cubic yards);
7. Revegetation (0.25 acres);
8. Crew Standby (5 hours).

The project will utilize a boom pump to backfill the sinkhole with pumpable coarse fill to a height of fifty feet and install a ten-foot thick concrete plug before backfilling the remaining depth with flowable fill.

Period of Performance
The project is scheduled for construction between September 3, 2024, and September 30, 2024, allowing for ten days of mobilization time. The entire project must be completed within twenty-eight calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the New Castle Sinkhole site located in Garfield County, Colorado.
