RFP 30 Bridges on NTH Professional Services

Background
The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works is seeking proposals for professional engineering and environmental services for the replacement of 30 bridges on National Trails Highway (NTH), also known as U.S. Route 66.
This project aims to enhance public safety and infrastructure integrity in the unincorporated communities of Daggett, Newberry Springs, Ludlow, Serbia, Bagdad, and Amboy.
The bridges include 28 timber structures, one pipe culvert, and one concrete box culvert, all of which have historical significance and require careful planning to meet federal and state regulations.

Work Details
The project involves the demolition of one pipe culvert, one concrete box culvert, and 28 timber bridges, replacing them with two-lane concrete bridges that comply with AASHTO standards.
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Developing bridge demolition plans with quantities.
- Creating grading plans and geometric alignments.
- Designing structural components (substructure and superstructure).
- Preparing temporary traffic control plans during construction.
- Conducting environmental studies including NEPA and CEQA documentation.
- Optional land surveying services such as establishing road right-of-way and conducting topographic surveys.
The consultant must ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations throughout the project.

Period of Performance
The contract period will last a maximum of five years from the date of approval by the Board of Supervisors.

Place of Performance
The work will take place at various locations along National Trails Highway in San Bernardino County.
