Outside Legal Services Bench

Background
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking proposals from qualified law firms to provide outside legal services. The goal of this contract is to establish a panel of firms that can offer legal expertise in various areas including business and government services, general liability, education legal services, facilities services, labor and employment services, administrative legal services, workers' compensation legal services, conflict counsel, and specialty practice areas as outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW).

This initiative aims to enhance the District's legal support capabilities while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Work Details
The selected firms will provide legal services in the following areas:
1. Administrative & Education Legal Services
2. Business & Government Services
3. Facilities Services (including Real Estate, Construction and Construction-related Labor Support, Charter School Facilities, Environmental Compliance, Energy Contractual Matters)
4. General Liability Litigation Services (including Civil Litigation – Public Entity Defense, Insurance Coverage and Recovery Services)
5. Labor & Employment Services (including Immigration Services)
6. Workers’ Compensation Legal Services (including Industrial Disability Retirement)
7. Conflict Counsel
8. Specialty Practice Areas.

Proposers must submit a comprehensive proposal that includes qualifications for each service area they wish to cover.

Period of Performance
The contract will have an initial term of three (3) years starting from January 1, 2026, with two (2) one-year renewal options based on performance and funding availability.

Place of Performance
Legal services will primarily be performed within the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District; however, firms may also need to provide services in specific geographic areas such as Sacramento or Washington D.C.
