2025 Matadero Creek Restoration and Bank Stabilization Project

Background
The Matadero Creek Restoration and Bank Stabilization Project is initiated by the Town of Los Altos Hills, California. The project aims to restore the creek's natural habitat and stabilize its banks to prevent erosion, thereby enhancing the ecological integrity of the area. This work aligns with the mission of the Public Works Department to maintain and improve public infrastructure and environmental quality.

Work Details
The project includes several key tasks: regrading a portion of the creek channel, installing a rock riprap grade control structure, replanting the area with native vegetation, removing existing barriers such as K-rails, and installing a new guardrail system. The Engineer’s Estimate for this project is $440,000. Specific tasks include:

- Mobilization
- Traffic control on Page Mill Road
- Clearing and grubbing
- Removing and disposing of 13 existing trees
- Protecting and preserving 2 existing trees
- Demolishing and disposing of existing K-rail concrete barriers
- Furnishing and installing cofferdams
- Installing new guardrails
- Installing silt and exclusion fences
- Earthwork and site grading
- Off-hauling 240 cubic yards of excavation spoils
- Furnishing and installing 250 tons of 300-Lb (Caltrans) rock
- Furnishing and planting 16 walnut trees (1-gallon size) including mulch and anti-browse cages
- Furnishing and planting 43 willow poles
- One-year landscape maintenance following installation.

Period of Performance
The contract work is to be completed within 45 working days from the commencement date. A one-year landscape maintenance period will commence after all planting materials are installed.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Matadero Creek in Los Altos Hills, California.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a Class 'A' Contractor’s License to bid on this project, along with a Class 'C-27' Contractor’s License specifically for planting activities. A bid deposit equal to at least 10% of the total bid amount must be included in the sealed proposal. Performance bonds will be required from the successful bidder.
