USCG - Mobile Command and Control Center Upgrades
Description
The purpose of this investment is to provide deployable communications forces in areas where fixed assets may be impacted or inoperable (e.g., during Hurricane relief operations). The Mobile Command Vehicles (MCVs) and Enhanced Mobile Incident Command Posts (eMICPs) deliver critical mobile communications capability to USCG response teams. MCVs and eMICPs include USCG standard communications and connectivity equipment to enable remote deployable and self-sustaining command control, communications, computers and IT (C4&IT). This program provides value to the public by supporting USCG hurricane relief operations such as Hurricane Florence. Per the FY 2018 USCG Annual Performance Report, the USCG assisted and saved more than 992 lives and 337 pets in the response to Hurricane Florence. This translates to over $9.5 billion in value (using the Department of Transportation's Aug 2016 statistical value of life figure of $9.6M.
